As an Interior Design student, I learn about all aspects of design. I learn about construction, lighting, space planning and much more. Being in the Caribbean allowed me to actually see how they build their house. In America we use the wood frame construction; however, in Barbados they use concrete block construction, wood construction and a mixture of both. I was truly inspired by their way of construction and the beautiful creations they create with concrete block construction. What's also an added bonus is the use of color. In the Caribbean each house is unique it has its own feature and character. I was truly inspired by Caribbean construction while in Barbados.
One of the many wood houses throughout the island. There are all different shapes and sizes, some one story and some two story. People are very creative in the way they build their wood houses.
Still in the construction process but close to being done.
Loving the play of colors.
This is obviously not a new construction, but for an abandoned building this still has so much character.
True beauty of an island, you can see the beach from any elevated point.
